International Standards Organization (ISO) is an institution recognized worldwide as an authority for quality management. ISO seeks to establish standards for quality and organization of information and management systems. It outlines a process approach for implementing a quality management system and lays down the good management practices. With an aim to enable businesses to transact globally, it helps to standardize the way businesses are run and ensures all the requirements in processes and systems are met.

ISO 9001

ISO 9001 is one of the most established quality frameworks worldwide and sets the standard for quality management systems. It helps organization to identify the best processes for delivering quality services to customers and helps in improving the way organizations are operated and managed. A third party who is accredited as a certification body conducts an audit. All the quality manuals and procedures are reviewed. Organization’s working practices are analyzed to ensure that the stated procedures and objectives are met and appropriate records are maintained. To ensure continuous best quality adherence, surveillance visits are also conducted (usually once or twice a year) subsequent to issuance of the certification.

ISO 27001

These standards provide good practice guidance on designing, implementing and auditing Information Security Management Systems to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information. It is designed to ensure the selection of adequate and proportionate security controls that protect information assets and give confidence to interested parties. The Information Security Systems are reviewed and monitored on an on-going basis to ensure continual good practices.
